This little park can be overlooked from time to time, especially with Disneyland located not too far away down the 5 freeway. However, it is still a great place to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon.

Similar story to the last park, but the last time I had been to Knott’s Berry Farm was at least 7 to 8 years ago (for my husband, it was even longer) and I’m pretty sure it was for Knott’s Scary Farm. That is a fun and scary special event, but it has become crowded and a bit expensive in recent years. I remember two years ago trying to get tickets for it and was quite shocked at the price. I decided it was not meant to be at that time.

I know it seems like I’m making the tour of popular theme parks for the first few posts of my blog, but that’s not entirely the case. I had decided to start this blog before these days happened and they weren’t on the agenda to be stories here either. My writing skills had gotten a little rusty since I graduated college as I didn’t keep up with writing articles or little blurbs for fun; the podcast script notes were as close as I got (a story for another time). I’m using these little adventures as a way to dip my toes back into writing. Now, back to the main reason for this post.

Stepping back into the world that Walter and Cordelia Knott started back in the 1940s after Mrs. Knott began selling her fried chicken (which is now famous) was an exciting experience. It brought back memories that I had forgotten about, mostly the good ones I had with friends while running around the park. There was a couple of months I spent quite a bit of time there and it was the brief time that I held a season pass.

This time, I was going with my husband. Considering the last time I was there was when Perilous Plunge still existed, these new changes were pretty great to see. All the different little shops, the holiday vendor booths with homemade items, and the new rides that had been added.

We only stayed for a couple hours, the only two rides we really wanted were Ghost Rider and the Railway. After that, we were content to walk around and make plans for our future visits. Passes were on sale a few weeks ago, so we purchased the Cedar Park Gold Pass. This means plenty of future adventures to other parks under that company.

After the week we had had, getting away for a couple hours was relaxing and very needed. By 2pm, we were ready to head out, but not before stopping to get my husband some of the famous Mrs. Knott’s chicken. He had never tried it before and decided on getting the meal to-go. It was good (according to him), but he is picking with his fried chicken. I told him the biscuits were the best part though.

That’s all for this little mini adventure, stay tuned to see what comes next. Until then, safe exploring everyone!
